The odyssey

In the book when Odysseus outsmarted the Trojan army with the old wooden horse trick the gods questioned their own safety, they questioned if Odysseus could ever outsmart a god? But did this actually happen in this order? In the manny version of the odyssey on the interwebs  I read compared to the version that we have almost all of them were different which leaves me questioning is there actually a homer? Usually when we read story's and we look at different versions of that story nothing is different about the order in which things happen they just put a different cover on it. But that's not the case with the odyssey, it's order is scrambled within each different copy of the odyssey.

Odyssey

Ever since the disruption of the trade in the eastern mediterranean the mycenaeans were unable to read or write. The reason being for this interruption of trade was assumed to be the peasants upriseing against the mycenaeans leaders and causing their great temples to fall. But I think when the odyssey was written it gave the mycenaeans a chance to rebuild what was lost during the big kerfuffle. So when they wrote the odyssey it was crucial to write it because it was their new language. Maybe thats why odysseus is a hero not just in the book but in reality too, because if you think about it the book was their new language it gave the mycenaeans a fresh start for what was lost.

The Odyssey Introduction Reflection
In the parts of the introduction I read it didn't give a specific bio on Odysseus or why he's important or the things he did that made him so well known. Maybe it's just me or what they're trying to do is give little hints of whats going to happen in the story.
